Destinee R. Hood, DMD

Dr. Destinee Rose Hood is the newest doctor of our dental team. She grew up near Atlanta, Georgia, and received her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia in 2011. Dr. Hood then earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at Boston University. After which, she completed residency in advanced education of general dentistry at Augusta University, which includes didactic training and advanced clinical experience in diagnostic sciences, endodontics, implantology, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, preventive dentistry, prosthodontics (fixed and removable), restorative dentistry, and special needs dentistry. Most of her time was devoted to advanced clinical training in ambulatory care settings. Patient care was also provided under general anesthesia in the Operating Room and Ambulatory Procedure Center. Additional hospital experience was gained through rotations in anesthesia, emergency medicine, pediatric dentistry and by participation in rounds and consultative services with various medical disciplines. Major emphasis was given to training related to the care of medically compromised patients.
Dr. Hood was awarded the Pierre Fauchard Dental Award, which is presented to those who have “demonstrated qualities of integrity, imagination, and initiative, and have the greatest potential for development into outstanding leaders in the dental profession.” She is also a member of the National Dental Honor Society, OKU.
Her goal is to educate her patients on how to maintain health and prevent decay. As she states, “Dentistry is meant to be preventative, and I want my patients to understand the processes of oral disease and help prevent it before a problem occurs.”
Dr. Hood has been with Copenhaver Dental since July 2016. “Copenhaver Dental has the latest, cutting-edge technologies, which allows me to utilize the skills I learned in residency. The exceptional technology, a rare find in a general dental office, supports many advanced procedures, such as computer-guided implants and same-day root canals and crowns.”
Her husband, a graduate of the Pharmacy program at UGA, and her two sweet dogs motivate and inspire her to do her best every day.
